As a trained Legal Adminstrative Assistant, you may assist across several different areas of law. Your work may be more specialized in areas such as intellectual property, criminal law, family law, employee benefits, litigation, labor law or real estate. You may work in the following legal settings:

- Federal, State, and Local Government Agencies
What Will I Do?
The role of the Legal Administrative Assistant has become much more essential over the years. Today’s Legal Administrative Assistants perform many of the same tasks attorneys do (with the exception of practicing law, setting legal fees, giving legal advice and presenting cases in courts).
Some of your duties may include:
- Assisting attorneys prepare for closings, hearings, trials and corporate meetings
- Investigating and researching case facts to ensure that all relevant information is considered
- Researching appropriate laws, judicial decisions and legal articles that pertain to cases
- Preparing written reports, draft pleadings and motions to be filed with the court
- Preparing affidavits
- Assisting attorneys during trials
- Organizing and tracking files of all important case documents
- Helping to draft contracts and other legal documents
- Maintaining office financial records
