Summit’s Medical Billing and Coding program is designed to launch careers in a wide variety of health care office settings. What Will I Do?
Some of your duties may include:
- Assigning codes* to each diagnosis and procedure for reimbursement by Medicare, Medicaid or other insurance programs that use the classification systems
- Patient and insurance billing
- Medical insurance coding and collections
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Bookkeeping
- Medical office collections
- Using codes to bill patients and all responsible parties.
*You may encounter several coding systems in your work as a Medical Billing and Coding Assistant, including coding systems for emergency services, physician offices and long-term care.
